3. Technical Architecture

The Soneium Chain​

Soneium is built as an Ethereum Layer 2 based on the OP Stack and designed specifically for entertainment. It provides dedicated blockspace optimized for entertainment, so creators and fans get consistent performance whatever is happening elsewhere.

Entertainment requires dedicated infrastructure:

  • Shared Onchain IP Architecture infrastructure across applications
    • All entertainment applications on Soneium can reference the same onchain IP Registry, creating a unified source of truth for creative works.
    • Cross-application interoperability means a character registered in one game can appear in another, or collectibles from one IP can interact with different experiences, all with transparent attribution and value flow.
  • Unified entertainment identity
    • Each account builds an entertainment identity across Soneium: participation history, creative contributions, collections, and community involvement form a portable profile.
    • Reputation and history accumulate in one place.
  • Seamless cross-application experiences
    • Applications built on Soneium share the same infrastructure, eliminating the need for bridging or complex cross-chain interactions.
    • Fans can move between games, collectible platforms, creator tools, and community experiences with a unified wallet and consistent UX.
  • Performance guaranteed for entertainment
    • By dedicating blockspace to entertainment, Soneium ensures that high-traffic events, game launches, collectible drops and live experiences get the capacity they need. Entertainment applications scale on blockspace reserved for them.
    • Entertainment applications can scale confidently without worrying about congestion from external DeFi or trading volume.

Core Infrastructure Capabilities​

  • Authenticity and verification layer
    • Serves as the canonical record for creative work registration, derivative tracking, and rights verification.
    • Inherits Ethereum's security to establish authenticity through immutability and transparency.
  • Transparent value distribution
    • Implements automated royalty distribution, secondary market royalties and community economy infrastructure.
    • Turns creative contribution into programmable value via smart contracts.
  • Liquidity layer
    • Provides the tools to value, exchange and fund Tokenized IP, so creators can raise funds and fans and investors can take part.
    • Facilitates the emergence of an IP Economy by providing tools for the valuation, exchange, and financing of onchain intellectual property.
    • By establishing the infrastructure for Tokenized IP, Soneium allows for the financialization of creative works in a decentralized environment, enabling IP to serve as collateral, be fractionalized, or power new decentralized financial instruments tailored for the entertainment industry.
  • High-throughput entertainment scaling
    • Processes entertainment-specific workloads (collectible minting, in-game transactions, social interactions, real-time events) at scale and low cost.
    • Optimized for mixed workloads typical to games, media, and community platforms.
